Every phone battery is a consumable — but how fast it wears out is mostly up to you. On our bench we see two identical phones, same age, one at 97% battery health and one at 78%. The difference is never luck. It is habit.
Keep it between 20% and 80%
Lithium-ion cells are stressed at the extremes. Living at 100% keeps the cell at high voltage; dropping to 0% strains its chemistry. If you can charge around 30–40% and unplug around 80–90%, you can realistically double the useful life of the battery. Most phones now include an optimized charging setting — turn it on and let it learn your schedule.
Heat is the real killer
A battery that regularly runs hot ages two to three times faster. The usual suspects: gaming or navigation while fast-charging, a thick case trapping heat on a car dashboard mount, and leaving the phone in the sun. If the back of your phone feels warm, give it a break and take the case off while charging.
Slow charging is not a myth
Fast charging is safe — phones negotiate it intelligently — but sustained high wattage means sustained heat. Overnight, use a slower 5–10W charger. Save the 25W+ brick for when you actually need speed.
Watch the background drain
An app that keeps the CPU awake keeps the battery warm. Check your battery stats once a month; a single rogue app running 6 hours in the background can cost you a full charge cycle a day. Since batteries age by cycle count, that matters.
When to replace, not nurse
Below 80% health, no habit will bring the capacity back — and a worn battery can throttle your processor or swell against the screen. A professional battery replacement takes us about 30 minutes, costs a fraction of a new phone, and comes with a 1-year warranty on the cell. It is the single highest-value repair we do.
Treat the battery well and it will quietly serve you for years. Abuse it, and you will meet us sooner — either way, we have you covered.
